Company (SME)
Oldham, United KingdomMicroGen uses satellite-based earth observation technology to identify hundreds of sites where micro hydropower ('run-of-river') mini-grids can be installed. This lowest-cost form of electricity is now attainable even for the 'hardest-to-reach', and by aggregating multiple installations together we can attract private sector investors whose usual minimum investment ticket size (>$10m) would not normally be reached by individual micro hydropower projects. With an LCoE of $0.20 per kWh, these mini-grids make a zero-carbon, AC, 24-7-365 supply of more-affordable electricity accessible to low-income communities and make the provision of PAYG Productive Use Equipment a reality.
We're doing this in rural Tanzania. We can do it anywhere on the planet - it's satellite-driven.
