We target disruptive and fundamentally new approaches to decarbonize paper production. Together with our interdisciplinary partners, we develop novel technologies and processes, scale and transfer them towards higher readiness levels (TRL). Overall target is a climate-neutral paper production by 2045 in the industry and save 80% of the energy required in the current manufacturing process.

 We demonstrate solutions reducing resource consumption, improve yields and further close raw material cycles. Spot on the energy-intensive areas such as drying process (~60% total energy) and consequently raw material preparation as first process step. These energy-saving measures will keep the paper industry competitive, secure jobs and offer new opportunities (e.g. transformation of lignite mining regions).
