Technology that upcycles hospital waste into circular, thermal and acoustic insulation, rigid boards, and pellets for the construction and design industries
Every year, 99% of over 50 million tons of healthcare waste (one of the best quality polymers in the world) is incinerated or landfilled, releasing toxins and wasting critical material resources. At the same time, the construction industry, responsible for 50% of all natural resource exploitation, faces material shortages, rising costs, and regulatory pressure to decarbonize. Yet, these two systems remain completely disconnected. In Sustein, we designed a replicable technology capable of upcycling >70% of healthcare waste into local products on a global scale. With a single production line, we can craft certified, high-performance circular products, including thermal and acoustic insulation, rigid boards, and pellets for the construction and design industries. Our technology translate into a new resource model for cities, turning a global waste crisis into a sustainable supply chain for construction.

He holds a Bachelor in Architecture, completed an exchange at Universidad Mayor, earned a Master in Technological Innovation in Construction at UPC, and specialized in climate focused materials through an MArch at UIC. He also completed executive training in Business in Circular Economy at ESADE. Before founding Sustein Material, he co-founded ACCESA, rethinking healthy and universally accessible interior spaces, led operations and logistics at Fira Barcelona, and worked in growth and sales at Glovo. He mentors sustainability and materials startups through Impact Hub and IESE. Today, he leads Sustein Material to build replicable circular systems that transform sterilized healthcare waste into certified low carbon insulation and boards for construction.
