August Race Group is a UK-based marine chemicals and compliance-focused company specialising in evidence-led sustainability solutions for the leisure marine sector. With deep roots in chemical formulation and marine operations, August Race develops maintenance and valeting products designed to minimise environmental impact while meeting real-world operational needs. The company is best known for Oceans Assured™, a fully MARPOL-compliant, Non-HME (non-harmful to the marine environment) product range supported by a growing digital compliance platform. This initiative addresses a long-standing compliance gap in recreational boating by combining safer chemistry with practical guidance for marinas, boatyards and vessel operators. August Race works closely with international industry bodies, regulators and insurers to translate complex legislation such as MARPOL Annex V into clear, operational best practice. Its approach is firmly fact-based and evidence-led, moving the industry away from assumption-driven sustainability claims towards demonstrable environmental performance. Through product innovation, guidance and collaboration, August Race aims to support the global leisure marine industry in reducing operational pollution, improving water quality in marinas and coastal environments, and building a more credible, compliant and sustainable future.
I have over 25 years’ experience in chemical formulation, including the last 15 years in the marine industry. I am a member of both the Technical and Sustainability Committees at ICOMIA, as well as a member of The Nautical Institute. I specialise in MARPOL compliance and have recently authored new industry guidance following extensive engagement with the International Maritime Organization. A passionate boater and strong supporter of diversity, my aim is to help the leisure marine sector move towards a fact-based, evidence-led sustainable future.
August Race manufactures evidence-led, environmentally responsible maintenance products for the leisure marine sector, fully compliant with MARPOL and designed to reduce operational pollution.
