I am a Mechanical Engineer, founder & CEO of Assea Bioenergy, and the inventor of Assea compost, an innovative organic fertilizer made from Seaweed Recycling!
Assea Bioenergy is a startup company offering Port & Coast Cleaning Services (incl. recycling) and produces high quality Organic & Ecofriendly compost & biosoils from marine plants & seaweed recycling (Posidonia Oceanica). The company is based in Kos island Greece, and holds a national innovation certificate due to the use of a patent method that has been granted to the founder. Assea bioenergy has been selected as a top FLAG project for GOOD PRACTICES in EU's FAMENET website and uses a low cost production method which is called Aerobic thermophilic fermentation or Composting in open windrows. This method promotes sustainability in Agriculture and comply with EU environmental regulations. For the production of Mature humus (Assea Compost)the company utilizes: \- Posidonia marine plant wastes \- Winemaking stems \- Olive leaves, olive pits, twigs \- Organic and biowaste (pruning etc.) For the production of Soil improver (Assea bioSoil) the company utilizes: \- Assea Compost \- Recycled soil. Assea products are innovative and offer: Plant Protection – (Natural Aminoacids) Decrease up to 60% of water waste 100% PEAT free 100% CHEMICAL free HEAVY METAL Free Assea Bioenergy also offers turnkey port and coast cleaning services as well as other associated maintenance portal/marine works. The use of Assea products helps the society to reduce biodegradable wastes to landfills up to 45% and to decrease environmental footprint (up to 70 % less CO2 emissions/business). Company Growth Philosophy: Assea Bioenergy continues its growth from compost and bio-soil production towards the energy sector, applying the same sustainable philosophy of organic waste recycling to generate renewable energy, reinforce circular economy practices, and ensure long-term environmental and economic sustainability. Biomethane is explicitly prioritized under REPowerEU as a fast-deployable renewable gas solution and our project is a flagship example of the EU Circular Economy Action Plan: · Convert organic waste into three value streams: bio-CNG, compost, carbon credits. · Eliminates landfill and uncontrolled waste disposal. · Reinforces local nutrient cycles via compost and bio-soils. Through strong R&D collaboration with researchers, other possible uses of Posidonia Oceanica waste extracts will be investigated for sustainable cosmetic and drug/supplement production.
