Stefano Farris

I graduated in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies from the University of Sassari and obtained my Ph.D. in Agro-Food Microbial Biotechnologies in 2007, conducting my experimental work at the University of Milan. In 2008, I completed a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey, where I worked on developing packaging materials from renewable sources. In 2011, I spent a six-month period at KTH – Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, gaining expertise in material science. I am currently a Full Professor at the University of Milan, where I lead a team of 10 people focused on the design, development, and characterization of innovative materials for the food packaging sector, employing various strategies such as green chemistry and nanotechnology approaches. My research has resulted in numerous publications in national and international journals, multiple partnerships with the industrial sector, and several international patents. He is also the founder of the spin-off SCR Packaging srl, which provides solutions and services specifically concerning the coating technology.
