Mediterranean living lab for biodiversity, water resilience and regenerative transition
Founder and Director of Kerno Lumo at Kerno Lumo

About
Kerno Lumo is seeking project partners to co-develop a Mediterranean living lab or field pilot focused on biodiversity, water resilience and regenerative land transition in real agroecosystems.
The purpose of this cooperation is to design and implement a practical demonstration framework where regenerative interventions can be tested, monitored and evaluated under field conditions. The project would aim to generate usable knowledge on how biodiversity-supporting practices, ecological infrastructure, monitoring methods and land management decisions can contribute to resilience in Mediterranean environments.
Potential themes may include biodiversity baselines, ecological indicators, pollination-related functions, habitat enhancement for honeybees and wild pollinators, vegetation and soil-related dynamics, adaptive monitoring, and the validation of interventions that improve ecological performance while remaining relevant for land managers and territorial actors.
Kerno Lumo is particularly interested in collaborating with farms, estates, foundations, territorial entities, research groups, technical organisations, innovation platforms and monitoring partners willing to co-design a realistic and measurable pilot. The ambition is not to build a purely conceptual project, but a field-based cooperation that produces evidence, methods and transferable lessons.
Possible contributions from Kerno Lumo include pilot framing, ecological logic, field protocol design, biodiversity monitoring structure, indicator development, systems interpretation and support in linking ecological knowledge to practical land management.
The cooperation is especially suitable for partners interested in applied sustainability, regenerative agriculture, Mediterranean adaptation, demonstration projects and innovation initiatives that need a technically sound and field-oriented ecological component.
