Postane is an urban hub for impact-driven work and joint cultural production, based in the historic Galata neighborhood of Istanbul. Located in the former British Post Office, it develops innovative economic models and cultural programs to address social, environmental, and urban challenges. The space features a rooftop permaculture garden; a vegan/vegetarian café supporting agroecological producers; a gift shop connecting consumers with local producers and social enterprises; open office spaces; a specialized library; a podcast studio; and a multipurpose hall. Postane is a proud member of two international networks: Bertha Spaces supports activist spaces in Africa, Europe, and the United States under the principle of “radical hospitality.” Through this network, Postane co-develops strategies for creating resilient community spaces and hosts public programs, knowledge-sharing sessions, and collaborative events. Watch highlights from our Turkish-South African fusion dinner for Fair Food Connections here. The Allianz Foundation Hubs Network connects organizations working on civil society, arts & culture, and climate justice across Europe and the Mediterranean. Postane actively contributes by leading knowledge-exchange sessions on urban food justice, social economy, and community-led spaces. Watch here how the kitchens of Autostrada Biennale and Postane Café collaborated in Kosovo to create vegetarian interpretations of traditional dishes, prepared with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.
