The University of Cologne is one of the largest and oldest universities in Germany and is recognized as a research-intensive institution with a broad, internationally oriented profile. It offers a wide range of degree programmes across six faculties, combining strong disciplinary foundations with interdisciplinary collaboration and research-based teaching. I am based at the Faculty of Human Sciences, at the Chair for Social Work and Youth Welfare (Erziehungshilfe und Soziale Arbeit), which focuses on research and teaching in social work, child and youth welfare, and inclusive educational practices.

Ihre Expertise

Beyond my academic training, I bring expertise in philosophical and theory-informed analysis of social work and education, Foucauldian-inspired discourse analysis, and qualitative, empirically informed research on inclusion, participation and digital media. I have experience in coordinating and (deputy) leading third-party funded projects, including developing agile project management structures, peer-support formats for doctoral researchers, and practice-oriented evaluations and expert reports. In addition, I contribute experience from international research collaborations (e.g. with partners in Belgium and China), ethics review and research governance (faculty ethics committee work), and sustained dialogue between academia, policy and practice through workshops, policy briefs, and public engagement.

Ihre Ressourcen

Beyond my own expertise, I can draw on several institutional resources at the University of Cologne. These include a professional third-party funding and research support office, central services for legal and ethical review (faculty ethics committee), and administrative structures for project management and financial administration at faculty and central university level. At my chair, we have experience in coordinating large collaborative projects, existing collaborations with practice partners in child and youth welfare, as well as access to digital infrastructure and platforms for hybrid teaching and public events. In addition, there are established international partnerships (e.g. with universities in Belgium and China) that can be mobilised for joint activities and exchange formats.
