My organisation
InCubed is an ESA programme managed by ɸ-lab
InCubed stands for ‘Investing in Industrial Innovation’ and is a Public Private Partnership co-funding programme run by the ESA Φ-lab. InCubed focuses on developing innovative and commercially viable products and services that generate or exploit the value of Earth observation imagery and datasets. The programme has a very wide scope and can be used to co-fund anything from building satellites to ground applications and everything between or to develop new EO business models.
About me
I'm a telecommunication engineer with a PhD on Earth Observation and AI4EO passionate. I've worked in Italy, Belgium and The Netherlands, on international projects that have brought me from Egypt to UK.
Currently working at the Φ-lab Invest Office supporting development of EO innovative solutions, user-driven and commercially focused in the InCubed programme.
Previously, I have worked EO engineer support at ESA/ESRIN helping researchers on the EO data exploitation, platform development, algorithm development, deployment and testing, and even before as researcher on a multi-disciplinary project in which my main focus was the utilization of all the possible satellite remote sensing applications on both SAR and multi-spectral datasets in order to analyse anthropogenic and natural landscape dynamics. In addition, during that period I had acted as guest lecturer in KU Leuven and I had supervised lessons in Delft University of Technology with remote sensing as the common factor.
Even longer ago, I was a trainee at ESA, learning and working on remote sensing applications.
I'm passionate about making the remote sensing world more accessible, showing others how to use the satellite data.
