Gregor Molan

Gregor Molan is a computer scientist with a strong foundation in discrete mathematics. Drawing on decades of experience in computer data storage, he initiated the collaboration between Comtrade and CERN openlab to support the productization of EOS—the distributed storage technology used at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and across all CERN experiments.

Since 1996, Gregor has led numerous research projects co-funded by the European Union and the Republic of Slovenia. His recent work includes the EUTYPES project, funded under the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) action, which focused on advancing research in type theory. He also led the development of the vINCI framework for the Augmented Professional Healthcare project, financed by the AAL EU program.

From 2025 to 2027, Gregor serves as the work package lead for an ESA-funded research initiative, where he is responsible for the project's AI and machine learning components.

Throughout his career at Comtrade, Gregor has demonstrated a sustained interest in applying mathematical models to the study of both human and machine-based systems. As Comtrade’s leading academic representative, he oversees collaborations with researchers and institutions worldwide and actively participates in global basic science initiatives. He is responsible for initiating and guiding all research activities within the company, ensuring they align with strategic business needs.

Gregor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a Master of Science in Computer Science, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering, all from the University of Ljubljana.
