About
At Space Tech Expo Europe in Bremen, MWSE showcases how its cutting-edge RF technology and engineering excellence are translating into practical solutions for the space industry. By combining expertise in radar, radiometry, communications, and on-board computing, MWSE delivers turnkey RF instruments and subsystems that empower satellite manufacturers, space agencies, and constellation developers alike. The company’s proven track record – from ground-based landslide radars to flight-tested satellite payloads – highlights the capacity to bridge Earth and space.
MWSE’s custom-designed RF components enhance the capabilities of satellites through multi-band RF and in-situ data processing. These innovations serve real-world needs, from global connectivity to climate monitoring. In line with its motto “Custom RF for your mission,” MWSE partners closely with clients to adapt each solution to their mission objectives. The result is bespoke RF hardware that brings advanced science into operational reality – helping protect communities, drive innovation, and expand the frontiers of communication and Earth observation. MWSE key space projects are:
-
6GStarLab Multi-Frequency Payload: MWSE is contributing a state-of-the-art RF payload to 6GStarLab, Europe’s first open 6G research in-orbit laboratory. Developed with i2CAT under the 6GSatNet project, this flexible software-defined radio (SDR) payload (nicknamed “Minerva”) featuring UHF, L-, S-, X-, and Ka-band communication frequency bands to enable in-orbit testing of future 6G non-terrestrial network (NTN) communications.
-
GNSS-Reflectometer, for the FSSCat mission: Developed the radio-frequency front-end for ESA’s FSSCat (3Cat-5/A) nanosatellite mission, which combined an L-band microwave radiometer and a GNSS-Reflectometer in one compact payload. This dual-purpose sensor suite enabled the 6U CubeSat to map soil moisture and sea-ice thickness from orbit, demonstrating MWSE’s ability to miniaturize advanced Earth observation instruments.
-
GASPER Galileo Space Receiver: In a European Horizon 2020 consortium led by Deimos Space, MWSE is co-developing the Galileo Space ReceivER (GASPER) – a low-cost, NewSpace GNSS receiver to validate next-generation Galileo navigation services in orbit. This in-orbit demonstrator will test real-time precise orbit determination using Galileo’s new high-accuracy signals (E6 band), showcasing MWSE’s expertise in spaceborne GPS/Galileo receiver design.
