About
The OWL (Orbital Whereabout Locator) is a GNSS-based subsystem designed for nanosatellites to support early mission phases postlaunch. It broadcasts location and telemetry data in VHF, enabling operators to track the satellite during critical moments. Easily integrated into CubeSats, it transmits identity and position for immediate tracking after deployment. Its main strength is precise identification and localization through beacon messages with a unique identifier (SVN), which also include GNSS data for orbit determination. This information is essential for establishing communication and confirming functionality in the initial operational days.
