About
The Greater Paris Metropolis (MGP) is a French inter-municipal structure created in 2016 to coordinate planning, economic development and ecological transition within the Paris region. It encompasses Paris and 130 neighboring municipalities, representing nearly 7 million inhabitants.
The Greater Paris Metropolis has launched a strategic program to deploy ethical and sustainable AI in public policy. The initiative focuses on two main goals:
-
Accelerate AI adoption in local governments and public services.
-
Build a dynamic, internationally recognized urban AI ecosystem.
To implement this, we created the “ApproprIAtion Métropolitaine” program — a free, three-phase initiative for municipalities and EPTs:
-
Training: Build AI literacy and identify local use cases.
-
Experimentation: Fund and support pilot AI projects.
-
Scaling: Expand successful solutions across the metropolitan area.
Current tracks include:
-
IA ECOPILOT (energy efficiency in public buildings – 60 cities)
-
IA Delivery Zones (urban logistics – 11 cities)
-
IA-BTP Match (construction material reuse – 3 EPTs)
-
IA Internal Admin (process optimization – 23 cities)
Upcoming in 2025: new tracks on city center attractiveness, land use, and noise pollution.
We are actively seeking innovative startups to co-develop and scale impactful AI solutions for urban challenges.
