VASCH is a Canadian materials innovation company developing higher-value applications for biomass ash and other industrial waste streams. Our vision is to turn underutilized waste materials into functional, lower-impact products and materials through applied research, material development and circular manufacturing.
VASCH is currently developing a biomass-ash-derived material platform, with an initial focus on creating moldable materials that can be formed into sheets and simple molded structures. Our first target application is non-food packaging, particularly packaging for cleaning products and potentially cosmetics and personal-care products. The material is being developed as a potential alternative to conventional plastic-based packaging while creating a higher-value use for biomass ash.
In the longer term, the VASCH material platform could extend beyond packaging into other molded and engineered material applications, including engineered panels, architectural facades and potentially insulation-related materials. These applications are part of VASCH's longer-term platform strategy.
Our R&D is currently being conducted in Canada through collaborations with applied research and innovation organizations, including Loyalist College and Carleton University, with additional pilot-scale and technical partnerships being explored. We are progressing from material formulation and characterization toward repeatable processing, molding and feasibility-scale manufacturing.
VASCH is now looking to build European partnerships to accelerate this transition from laboratory development toward commercial applications. We are particularly interested in connecting with packaging manufacturers, material companies, consumer-product and packaging brands, advanced manufacturing organizations, biomass-energy facilities, and other industrial partners that can contribute to material evaluation, manufacturing development, prototyping, pilot-scale trials, feedstock supply or commercialization.
A key part of our European strategy is developing a localized circular model. Rather than transporting biomass ash from Canada, VASCH is interested in exploring opportunities to source suitable biomass ash locally from European biomass power/CHP facilities or other industrial biomass users, develop the material locally, and ultimately work with local manufacturing partners to serve European markets.
Our immediate objectives are to:
• advance the biomass-ash-derived material toward a reproducible MVP;
• demonstrate moldability and basic material performance;
• evaluate manufacturing and scale-up requirements;
• conduct feasibility and pilot trials with appropriate manufacturing partners;
• validate potential packaging applications with industry; and
• establish commercial and technical partnerships in Europe.
VASCH is particularly interested in European partners who can provide practical industry feedback, manufacturing expertise, access to processing and pilot infrastructure, application development opportunities, feedstock partnerships, or a pathway toward commercial collaboration. We are open to different partnership models, including joint development, feasibility trials, pilot manufacturing, material evaluation, manufacturing partnerships and future commercialization arrangements.
