Gewurztraminer 2023 - Half dry
Winemaker at Vins Schaffhauser
Wettolsheim, France
About
Winemaking:
This Gewurztraminer, etymologically meaning “spicy”, is its very interpretation. The majority of parcels are planted on the former bed of the Fecht, and the high exposure to the sun gives it its aromatic complexity. After delicate pressing and fermentation at no more than 20°C, it is aged for 6 to 8 months on fine lees to give it substance and power.
Tasting:
Intense on the nose, it develops oriental notes of spices, pepper, ginger, cloves and star anise. Full-bodied and powerful on the palate, with a hint of honey and a persistent finish.
Wine and food pairing:
Its exotic character is an invitation to travel through different cuisines of the world with spicy, Asian or Middle Eastern flavors. It can also be enjoyed with regional dishes, such as a plancha of scallops and prawns, or at the end of a meal with strong cheeses (Munster, Epoisses, Bleu, etc.).
