About

Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC Chile) is consistently ranked as the leading Spanish-speaking university in Latin America and among the top institutions in the region. Founded in 1888, UC Chile is a comprehensive, research-intensive university with strong international partnerships and a solid record in interdisciplinary research, innovation and public policy engagement.

Within UC Chile, the Centro UC Justicia y Sociedad specialises in security, crime prevention, justice reform and reintegration policies. Over the past decade, the Centre has led more than 100 research and applied policy projects across Latin America and the Caribbean, working closely with law enforcement agencies, justice institutions, ministries and international organisations.

In the context of Horizon Europe Cluster 3 (Civil Security for Society), the Centre contributes expertise in crime prevention strategies (online and offline), governance of emerging security challenges, impact evaluation, ethics and fundamental rights. It offers access to real policy environments and pilot settings in LAC, enabling validation, policy transfer and international scalability of civil security solutions.

Through the Centro UC Justicia y Sociedad, UC Chile combines strong institutional capacity, regional reach and a proven ability to translate security research into measurable public policy impact.
