About
Since its establishment in 1981, the G.E. Pukhov Institute for Modeling in Energy Engineering (PIMEE) has become the leading research institute in the field of modeling and simulation in industry, particularly in the energy sector. Its primary mission is to provide IT technology in energetics by ensuring scientific and technical support. PIMEE, being presently subordinated to the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, is a legal entity having the status of a state-owned non-profit research institute. PIMEE has about 150 employees.
The main task of PIMEE is to develop the theoretical background of modeling and simulation of complex objects of various physical nature and to implement the simulation results into concrete projects. The high theoretical level of research permits us to occupy the leading position in the field of the methods and facilities of mathematical and computer simulation of dynamic systems based on integral equations method which provides the extension of possibilities and improvement of methods and facilities of mathematical simulation. The use of the theory of hybrid simulation for the problems of fast-flowing dynamic processes makes it possible to create new methods and principles of constructing special tools for high-speed computing and special purpose instruments, etc.
One of the most important types of research is devoted to the cybersecurity area which is very important for all human activities. The Institute carries out fundamental and applied research in the areas of security policy, cyber security, the internal security strategy in the energy sector, environmental security, and cyber security of critical infrastructure facilities. PIMEE staff regularly conduct expertise in computer systems protection from cyber threats in both industrial companies and government agencies. Modeling and simulation, cybersecurity in the energy sector, blockchain and smart contracts, sustainability, and resilience of energy are the fields of our interest.
PIMEE is involved in the international projects. For European programs PIMEE's PIC is 996317362.
