About

We provide Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) expertise to strengthen security research and innovation through theory-driven analysis, ethical reflection, and societal impact assessment. Our work is grounded in criminology and broader SSH perspectives, contributing to the understanding of crime, security risks, social dynamics, and prevention strategies across Horizon Europe Cluster 3 domains.

A key focus is the application of SSH frameworks to emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence in security contexts. We support the development of trustworthy, lawful, and socially robust AI by identifying risks of bias, discrimination, opacity, and unintended societal consequences, while ensuring alignment with fundamental rights, ethical principles, and legal requirements.

Our contribution includes conceptual framework design, integration of SSH methodologies in multidisciplinary projects, stakeholder-sensitive analysis, and guidance for responsible innovation. This service is relevant for research consortia, public authorities, technology developers, and civil society actors seeking human-centred, ethically grounded, and policy-relevant security solutions.
