My organisation
Under the umbrella of Mazumdar Shaw Medical Foundation (MSMF) and Narayana Institute of Neurosciences (NIN), MSMC, Narayana Health, the Integrated Research on Neuroscience (IRoN) program has been initiated. One of the main areas of interest is stroke. Stroke is emerging as significant contributor to disability burden in our country. Neurological recovery after cerebral artery strokes remains variable and the treatment of impairments is challenging, with residual deficits being refractory to existing treatments. Standard of care includes thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy, decompressive craniectomy if indicated, and early rehabilitation. To address residual impairments arising from stroke despite best practices, new treatments in focus include stem cell therapy, neuromodulation, brain-machine interface, robotic rehabilitation and multimodal treatments. The program has been initiated with two major studies: 1) Stem Cell-Based Stroke Management Program 2) Neuroclinical and translational initiatives of neural damage-restoration.
About me
I am a translational neuroscience researcher, author, editor, and part-time poet. I presently work as a Research Scientist at the Mazumdar Shaw Center for Translational Research, Bengaluru. I investigate how genes and molecules shape brain–body relationships in stroke, peripheral neuropathies, and neurodegenerative disorders. My expertise spans clinical neuroscience, experimental therapeutics, and integrative omics. I authored more than 10 publications. I serve as Review Editor for Frontiers in Neurology and peer-reviewer for leading neuroscience journals. I am a Commonwealth Split-site Scholar trained at NIMHANS, India and the University of Liverpool,UK. I communicate science through his verses, as reflected in my book titled "Neural Nuances: Evidence-Based Poetry".
