About

concept2impact — Decision Architecture for Energy Systems and Sustainable Transformation

concept2impact is a Vienna-based consultancy for investment-secure energy system design. I help industrial and energy-intensive businesses, municipalities, quarter and project developers, and energy communities across the DACH region turn complex system decisions into clear, financeable action — before capital is committed, not after.

The problem I solve

Most energy transition projects fail quietly, not with a bang. A heat pump gets sized without the building envelope in mind. A PV system gets built for maximum feed-in rather than self-consumption. A battery gets added because it's fashionable, not because the load profile calls for it. Each individual component decision might look reasonable — but assembled without an underlying system architecture, the result is technically mismatched, economically suboptimal, and strategically exposed. The cost of that mismatch isn't visible on day one — it shows up over the 20-25 year lifetime of the asset.

What I do

I work as a vendor-neutral decision architect — never selling hardware, technology, or a specific solution, only the clarity to choose the right one. The proprietary Architecture-to-Execution (A2E) Framework takes a project from open system question to investment-ready decision in a structured sequence: mapping the system architecture, stress-testing it with Python-based techno-economic modeling (PyPSA), building the business case, aligning stakeholders around it, and sequencing the investment so the system performs technically, economically, and strategically from day one — rather than being optimized retroactively, component by component.

How I work

Every engagement is grounded in quantitative modeling, not rules of thumb. I build transparent, techno-economic optimization models (LCOE/LCOH) that show the optimal economic system architecture based on the formerly developed target image, so decision-makers can confidently commit capital with clarity. Because I don't sell equipment or represent any manufacturer, my recommendations are shaped only by what performs best for the client's specific system.

Who I work with

  • Industry & energy-intensive businesses — CEOs, CFOs, and ESG/sustainability managers navigating decarbonization under cost and reporting pressure

  • Municipalities — public-sector decision-makers balancing climate targets with budget accountability

  • Quarter and project developers — planning shared energy infrastructure across new developments

  • Energy communities — cooperative structures optimizing shared generation and consumption

Guiding principle

Klarheit vor Kapital — clarity before capital. We believe the highest-leverage moment in any energy project is before the first euro is spent, and that the right architecture, chosen early, is what makes decarbonization investments pay off rather than underperform.
