ITENE is a technology centre specialised in research and development of innovative solutions, with a strong focus on biotechnology. Its biotechnology management is dedicated to the development of advanced processes for the valorisation of agri-food waste, transforming them into biopolymers, active compounds for cosmetics, nutritional supplements and biodegradable products for the packaging sector. Using sustainable technologies, ITENE participates in R&D projects that take advantage of agricultural by-products to obtain high added value materials, contributing to circular economy and sustainability.
About me: Chemical engineer and PhD with extensive experience in research, academia and EU project management. Passionate about translating scientific knowledge into societal impact through interdisciplinary collaboration. Currently focused on strengthening European partnerships and developing impactful proposals linking innovation, sustainability and social transformation.
ITENE is a technology research centre specialised in packaging, materials science, biotechnology and circular economy solutions, supporting the transition towards safe, sustainable and bio-based industrial systems.
The organisation operates as a bridge between research, industry and policy, enabling the development, validation and scale-up of innovative solutions from laboratory concept to industrial deployment and market uptake.
Through its multidisciplinary teams and pilot-scale infrastructures, ITENE contributes across the entire innovation chain:
--Development and functionalisation of advanced and bio-based materials
--Biotechnological valorisation of biomass and waste streams
--Circular economy design, recycling technologies and value-chain optimisation
--Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) implementation
--Environmental, toxicological and regulatory assessment
--Industrial feasibility, scalability and techno-economic validation
ITENE acts as a key partner for bio-based innovation, contributing to biotechnology development, bio-based materials, recycling technologies, SSbD implementation and industrial scale-up of circular bioeconomy solutions.
