Anestis Vlysidis holds a Chemical Engineer Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), where he graduated in 2006. Since 2022, he has been an Assistant Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering at NTUA. He completed his PhD at the University of Manchester in the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science, focusing on the development of sustainable bioprocesses for the production of biochemicals from biodiesel industry by-products. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the Agricultural University of Athens and NTUA, working on the treatment and utilization of organic waste through innovative bioprocesses and the design of biorefineries for the production of bioplastics, biochemicals, bioenergy, and soil amendments. Additionally, he has been extensively involved in sustainability analysis, such as Life Cycle and Cost Analysis of emerging technologies, at the EU's Joint Research Center in Ispra, Italy, and in collaboration with private research companies in Greece and abroad. He has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed research journals with more than 2400 citations. Before his current position, he was an Associate Professor at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Crete.
