Seeking Software (App) & Know-how for a "Pay-As-You-Throw" (PAYT) System

As part of our strategy to transition to a Circular Economy, the Municipality of Rafina-Pikermi is planning to modernize its municipal waste management. Our primary goal is to drastically reduce mixed waste and increase recycling rates through source separation.

What we are looking for: We are looking for tech companies, startups, or existing European consortia that offer comprehensive digital solutions for implementing a "Pay-As-You-Throw" (PAYT) system. Specifically, we seek:

• Software & Citizen App: A mobile or web application allowing citizens to track their environmental footprint, monitor the amount of waste they dispose of or recycle, and manage their corresponding rewards or fees.

• Know-how & IoT Integration: Expertise in connecting the software with hardware solutions like weighing systems, smart bins, or RFID access control systems.

• Consulting & Engagement: Best practices for citizen engagement and public education to ensure the successful adoption of the system.

Our Role: As a forward-thinking Municipality, we are ready to serve as a pilot testbed for your technology. We are eager to join proposals for EU funding programs (e.g., Horizon Europe, LIFE) as an end-user partner, helping you validate, test, and scale your solution in a real-world urban and port environment.
