Petrographic characterization and durability assessment of recycled aggregates
Associate Professor/Profesora Contratada Doctora at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
Madrid, Spain
About
I offer expertise in the petrographic, mineralogical and durability assessment of construction materials, with a particular focus on recycled aggregates, concrete performance and alkali–silica reaction (ASR).
My research combines applied geology and civil engineering to evaluate the quality, durability and long-term behaviour of natural and recycled aggregates used in concrete and infrastructure applications. I have experience in petrographic characterization, aggregate assessment, deterioration diagnosis, image-based analysis and the interpretation of degradation processes affecting cement-based materials.
I am interested in collaborating with universities, research centres, technology providers and industrial partners working on:
• Construction and demolition waste (CDW) circularity.
• Recycled aggregates and secondary raw materials.
• Circular construction materials.
• Concrete durability and service-life assessment.
• Digital characterization and image analysis.
• Sustainable infrastructure and resource efficiency.
Potential contributions include material characterization, durability assessment, aggregate quality evaluation, petrographic expertise, research support and participation in European collaborative projects related to circular economy and sustainable construction.
