Beyond the Project: Financing bankable utilities and the transmission grids that utility-scale solar depends on

Location:Room BTrack:Grids stream

A utility-scale solar project can be fully permitted, fully contracted, and still fail to reach financial close if the utility buying its power is not creditworthy, or if there is no transmission capacity to evacuate the power it generates. This session moves beyond the project-level financing questions covered earlier in the day to ask what it actually takes to make the off-taker and the grid bankable: utility tariff and collection reform, sovereign and partial risk guarantees, and the case for private capital in transmission build-out. It examines which credit enhancement tools are proving effective at unlocking utility-scale pipelines, and where the gap between grid capacity and generation ambition remains the binding constraint.
