Paz Tornero holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). She has been a visiting researcher at Harvard University, the MIT Media Lab, and the Light Laboratory at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).
Her research focuses on ArtScience, Science and Technology Studies (STS), Digital Humanities, technological art, artistic research, and transdisciplinary practices. She investigates the intersections between art, science, technology, ecology, and society through collaborative research with scientists, laboratories, and cultural institutions.
Her artistic and research projects have been presented at international festivals, exhibitions, and galleries. She has published in leading international journals and has been invited as a speaker and panelist at conferences on ArtScience, digital culture, media arts, and transdisciplinary research.
She serves as a reviewer for international journals, conferences, and electronic arts festivals, and has participated in international evaluation committees for academic exchange and artistic research. She has also been an artist-in-residence in several Art & Science research programmes.
Paz Tornero has taught at universities in Ecuador and has been a visiting professor at the University of Caldas (Colombia). She is currently a lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Granada (Spain). She was also a member of the DIYBio OpenBio Lab GRX, an interdisciplinary collective exploring open biological practices.
Her work is driven by long-term collaborations with scientists and research laboratories. She describes herself as an "intrusive artist"—a researcher who enters scientific environments to understand their methodologies and foster new forms of knowledge through transdisciplinary dialogue.
She currently leads several research projects exploring atmospheric sound, listening practices, environmental media, audiovisual creation, and the synergies between art, science, technology, ecology, and exploration.
