Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) is a leading public, autonomous university based in Puebla, Mexico, with origins dating back to the 16th century (1578) and a long tradition of higher education and scientific research in the region and the country.
I’m Dr. Olivia Hernández Cruz, a polymer and nanomaterials scientist and educator at BUAP (Mexico), currently a postdoctoral researcher at LIMA—Laboratorio de Innovación y Materiales Avanzados. I have postdoctoral experience at Imperial College London (UK) and at CIO (Mexico). My research centers on multifunctional biodegradable polymers and graphene-based nanocomposites, with emphasis on electrospun fibrous scaffolds and selective membranes. I’m driven by projects that connect rigorous synthesis and characterization with real-world impact—from bone regeneration and wound-care platforms to sustainable water-treatment technologies. I also develop polymeric materials for optoelectronic applications and membrane-based gas separation. I enjoy building collaborative, training-oriented environments and mentoring students and early-career researchers.
