Dr. Yongbo Fan is an Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, specializing in advanced ferroelectric materials for sensing, energy conversion, and storage applications. He obtained his PhD in 2023 from the University of Sheffield’s world-renowned functional ceramics group (led by Prof. Ian Reaney), where he studied microstructure-property relationships in barium titanate/sodium niobate-based systems. His publications in Nature Communications, Energy & Environmental Science, and Advanced Functional Materials demonstrate expertise in functional material design for energy related applications.
Currently, Dr. Fan is developing a methodology enables low-cost, accelerated screening of next-generation ferroelectrics, directly addressing UN Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable Clean Energy) and 9 (Industry Innovation) through rapid materials optimization for green technologies.
