Anne joined the University of Glasgow at the end of 2022 (after 15 years at the University of Reading). She has held various visiting positions at universities in Germany, Spain and Switzerland, and a Jean Monnet Fellowship at the European University Institute in Fiesole, Italy.
Amongst her publications is a monograph, International Trade Disputes and EU Liability (CUP 2013), and co-edited books on EU external relations law: Armstrong, Scott, Thies (Eds), EU External Relations and the Power of Law - Liber Amicorum for Marise Cremona (Hart, 2024); Cremona, Thies and Wessel (eds), The European Union and International Dispute Settlement (Hart 2017); and Cremona and Thies (eds), The European Court of Justice and External Relations Law – Constitutional Challenges (Hart 2014).
In 2017, Anne established, together with Christina Eckes (Amsterdam) and Piet Eeckhout (UCL), the first academic law journal in the field of EU external relations law, Europe and the World – A Law Review (UCL Press), which has been accepted into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) index. In 2012, Anne co-founded the ESIL Interest Group ‘The EU as a Global Actor’ and was one of its elected co-convenors until 2022. She is a member of the German Society of International Law (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationales Recht). Anne acts as reviewer for various publishing houses and is member of the UCL Press Journals Committee.
Anne is a qualified lawyer in Germany, holds an LLM from the University of London (LSE) and a Dr. iur. from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich, Germany.
Anne is the Law School’s ECDP (Early Career Development Programme) Coordinator.
