The Institute of Digital Technologies for Personalized Healthcare carries out applied research in the field of medical technologies. The BSP area focuses on extracting clinically meaningful information from biological, subjective, and contextual data. Through the adaptation and optimization of Artificial Intelligence, advanced statistics, data mining, machine learning and deep learning tools, it aims to develop systems to support personalized diagnosis and therapy, also thanks to bio-behavioral monitoring.
F.F. is the founder and leader of the Biomedical Signal Processing Group, at the Institute Institute for Digital Technologies for Personalized Healthcare (MeDiTEch) in SUPSI.
After a Laurea in Physics (University of Genova) and a PhD in Electronics (University of York) she did a Post-doc with the Adaptive Computational Group, (University of Coimbra, Portugal) then she spent two years with the BEL group (DBSSE-ETHZ). She moved to SUPSI in 2009, and started as lecturer and researcher.
Her mission is applying artificial intelligence to clinical medicine, with three focuses: neuroscience, cardiology and lifestyle
She is PI for various European research projects, bridging clinical medicine and industry.
