About

The Genetics and Environment in Psychiatry (GEP) is a multidisciplinary team composed of biologists, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nurses, nutritionists and physiotherapists who are all focused on searching for genetic and environmental risk and protective factors for psychiatric diseases and improving the quality of life for those diagnosed with them. 

The main research lines of the GEP are:

1. Identification of genetic and molecular markers of psychiatric diseases (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and autism).

2. Implications of stress in mental pathology.

3. Evaluation of cognitive function in people with personality disorders and other psychiatric diseases.

4. Evaluation of processes in psychological interventions in mental health.

5. Validation of mental health instruments.

6. Incipient psychotic disorder: high-risk population, first non-affective and affective episodes and critical period.

Candidate profile

For a personalized medicine project focused on applying a screening test in patients with a psychiatric diagnosis to detect carriers of a CNV-type genetic variant, we are looking for a candidate with the following profile:

•        Doctor (PhD) in the field of life sciences or biomedicine.

•        Training and experience in psychiatric genetics

•        Motivation to translate project results to the clinical practice in the field of psychiatry

•        Ability to collaborate and seek new international opportunities with research teams as well as with teams of companies in the field of biomedicine

•        Availability to settle down and live in the vicinity of our center for a good integration into the hosting team.
