Brief description of Supervisor /Research Group
Professor (Full) Jose Angel Acosta received the dual B.Sc. degrees in servo-electrical and mechanical engineering from the Universidad de Huelva, Huelva, Spain, in 1996, the M.S. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the Universidad de Sevilla, Seville, Spain, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree from the Universidad de Sevilla, Sevilla, Spain, in 2004. He was a Marie Curie
Fellow with the Laboratoire des Signaux et Systèmes, CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France, in 2003 and 2005. Since 2005, he has been a CNRS Visitor and was an Academic Visitor with Imperial College London, London, U.K., from 2008 to 2011. He is currently a Full Professor with the Dept. de Ingenieria de Sistemas y Automatica, Universidad de Sevilla, and the Head of the Multi-Robot and Control Systems (MACS) Research Group. His research focuses on nonlinear control theory and its applications to mechanical, aerospace, and robotic systems. Dr. Acosta received the Ph.D. European Award in 2005. He was the 2006 Nominee for the IEEE TAC George S. Axelby Outstanding Paper Award. He has served on several editorial boards and the IEEE CSS Awards Committee. For more details please visit:

Project description
Theory and application at the interface between nonlinear control and machine learning. Application to Robotics UAVs and USVs. Keywords: Nonlinear Control Theory; Adaptive Control; Constrained nonlinear control; Data-driven control; Machine learning

IMPORTANT: Applicants should check their elegibility to apply to the MSCA PF 2026 Call:
· Any nationality (European Fellowship) / European national or long-term resident of a Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country (Global Fellowship)
· Be in a possession of a doctoral degree (PhD)
· Have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree
· Comply with the mobility rule: not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), or in the country of the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
