Masive IoT innovation network MIoTIN
About
The Massive IoT Innovation Network (MIoTIN) is a Staff Exchanges project that strengthens international and inter-sectoral collaboration to advance Mioty — Europe’s ETSI-standardized LPWAN technology developed by Fraunhofer IIS. Using Telegram Splitting Multiple Access (TSMA), Mioty enables massive-scale, ultra-low-power, and interference-resilient IoT deployments with long range, up to 10-year battery life, and high reliability even with 50% packet loss.
MIoTIN focuses staff mobility on three strategic domains:
1. Sustainable Agri-Food Ecosystems — precision monitoring for water and energy optimization in regenerative agriculture.
2. Energy-Efficient Data Centers — granular sub-metering, thermal mapping, and PUE reduction in high-density environments.
3. Smart Electric Grid Management — real-time anomaly detection and predictive maintenance using magnetic flux and motion sensors.
The consortium currently under construction combines academic excellence from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and Fraunhofer IIS (Germany), and other partners.
Through up to 360 person-months of secondments, partners will jointly develop Mioty-based solutions, integrate AI analytics (Grafana/InfluxDB), conduct field pilots, and create training programs. Exchanges will flow bidirectionally between European technical hubs and Mexican applied, business, and NGO partners.
MIoTIN will enhance R&I capacities, deliver innovative IoT applications for climate resilience and digital-green transitions, boost staff careers through intersectoral and international experience, and build lasting Europe-Latin America partnerships. The project directly supports the EU Green Deal, sustainable development goals, and technological sovereignty in massive IoT.
