Research Areas of Interest: With a strong foundation in translational research, my team's mission is to generate clinically actionable insights that improve outcomes for people with cardiovascular disease, while contributing fundamental new knowledge in cardiovascular biomedicine.
Our research integrates molecular biology, biomedical engineering and vascular biology to understand how extracellular cues link vascular dysfunction with clinical outcomes.
Research areas include: -
Unlocking New Solutions in Cardiovascular Stenting through combining our strengths in vascular biology and therapeutics with medical engineering, artificial intelligence, modelling and vascular surgery
Linking Vascular inflammation with Mechanosensing by integrating CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing of vascular endothelial cells with microfluidics.
What we offer: This provides an opportunity to thrive in a world-leading research centre, as evidenced by high profile publications and significant external funding, to develop opportunities for mentorship and leadership.
As part of this package we offer:
Access to dedicated lab space, equipment and vascular tissue biobank.
Integration into a dynamic and multidisciplinary team supported by significant external funding.
Mentoring and support to co-develop competitive fellowship applications, including a strong host institutional letter of support.
Opportunities for continuous professional development and interdisciplinary skills development focused on enhancing your research potential.
Access to advanced infrastructure and resources.
Close engagement with the University of York, external industry and clinical partners in our extensive research network.
**Candidate’s expected influence:**By increasing capacity and research excellence in a strategically important area of cardiovascular biomedicine, a successful candidate would expand research connectivity with European consortia that is essential for Horizon Europe collaborative activity. Through new connections with external partners, the fellow would also accelerate translation of fundamental insights into the clinic.
