Research Vision:

Our laboratory uses budding yeast as a powerful model system to uncover fundamental principles of intracellular communication that integrate all stages of gene expression—from transcription to mRNA fate—into a unified regulatory system.

The Project:

This project addresses a paradigm-shifting question: how do mRNA degradation factors function in transcription activation? Rather than acting solely at the end of the mRNA life cycle, these factors operate co-transcriptionally within phase-separated transcriptional condensates to regulate gene output. The work combines molecular genetics, genomics, proteomics, and systems-level analyses to dissect transcription–mRNA decay crosstalk and its role in cellular adaptation to environmental stress.
