Interdisciplinary researcher on human modifications to long-term processes on the Earth's surface

For 20 years, my professional experience has taken me across multiple projects to develop research questions and data sets on long term environmental changes to provide insight on land management, environmental impacts and natural resources. I am trained in geological, pedological, geographical, ecological, and qualitative research methods. My main interests include grass or forest fires in savannah, mountain, alpine and coastal areas, and the cascading effects on soil, water quality and carbon. My career is characterised by a diversity of independently-led, collaborative, and as a trainer and educator of junior and early career researchers. My career pathways is diverse with experience in Canada, USA, UK, EU, Switzerland, and eastern Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar and South Africa). My research topics are on environmental changes to soils, plants, forest fires, and pollution to wetlands and lakes; through a combination of fieldwork, laboratory analyses, and data analysis.
