About

My name is Prof. Dr. Jorge Leandro and I am the head of the Research Institute for Water and Environment (Department of Civil Engineering) at the University of Siegen. As an experienced supervisor for young researchers, I would like to offer a joint proposal as part of the Marie Sklodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships and, if funded, to carry out the project at my chair. I primarily offer the possibility of a joint application within the framework of the European Fellowships, but possibly also as a return host of a Global Fellowship.

The mission of the chair is to contribute to the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development goals and implementation of the Sendai framework as defined by the UNDRR. Geographically we are ideally placed in Siegen-Wittgenstein to tackle these challenges regionally and in Germany. Our international network of partners allows us to extend our outreach globally. We focus mainly on five research areas for which our team has strengthened its expertise over the last 10+ years: 1. Urban flood forecasting and early warning systems 2. Risk-Resilience and cascading effects of critical infrastructure and health 3. Numerical modelling 4. Hydraulic engineering design 5. Hydraulic model experiments The development of an integration platform is the overarching goal of our research that connects our research areas. We are currently interested in expanding our team with a MSCA funded Postdoc who is fascinated by our vision and is keen to make a significant contribution.

If you are interested, please feel free to contact me by e-mail: jorge.leandro@uni-siegen.de For more details check the website of my institute: https://www.bau.uni-siegen.de/fwu/wb/index.html.en?lang=en
