Project Description:
I am seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral candidate to develop a competitive Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) application. The successful candidate will propose a cutting-edge research project aligned with the overarching themes of DNA/RNA nanotechnology and/or bottom-up synthetic biology.
Our lab possesses extensive expertise in DNA origami, RNA circuits, and membrane biophysics. We are interested in projects that leverage these areas to address fundamental questions or develop novel applications. Potential research avenues include, but are not limited to:
-
Designing and characterising functional DNA/RNA nanostructures for sensing, molecular computation, or targeted delivery.
-
Developing synthetic gene circuits and networks within controlled environments, such as protocells.
-
Interfacing DNA/RNA nanostructures with biological membranes to understand membrane-protein interactions and functions.
-
Exploring the bottom-up synthetic biology for high throughput characterisation of biomolecular reactions.
My role as PI will be to provide comprehensive guidance and support throughout the MSCA PF application process, from concept development and experimental design to grant writing and refinement. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic research environment, push the boundaries of synthetic biology, and establish your independent research profile.
Candidate Profile:
-
PhD in relevant fields.
-
Strong publication record commensurate with career stage.
-
Demonstrated expertise in DNA/RNA nanotechnology, synthetic biology, and/or membrane biophysics is highly desirable.
-
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
-
Ability to think critically, propose innovative research ideas, and work independently.
-
Enthusiasm for grant writing and developing a competitive fellowship application.
What we offer:
-
Dedicated mentorship and extensive support for the MSCA PF application process.
-
Access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
-
A collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.
-
Opportunities for professional development and networking.
-
The chance to develop a highly impactful, independent research project.
Eligibility Criteria for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships:
Candidates must meet the MSCA PF mobility rule: Researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in UK for more than 12 months in the three years immediately before the call deadline.
How to Express Interest:
Interested candidates are encuraged to send:
A CV and a cover letter outlining their research interests, relevant experience, and initial ideas for a potential MSCA PF project (max. 1 page). However, information inquired are welcomed.
