About
Obesity is a complex, chronic, and multifactorial disease that affects millions across Europe, often accompanied by serious comorbidities such as diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and mental health disorders. Its rising prevalence and impact on quality of life and healthcare systems make it a critical public health challenge. Traditional approaches often fail to address the diversity of patient needs, leading to limited effectiveness and poor long-term outcomes.
This project proposes the clinical evaluation of an AI-powered digital tool designed to support individuals living with obesity and associated complications in adopting and sustaining healthier lifestyle habits. The solution is grounded in personalized medicine and delivers tailored interventions based on individual characteristics, behavioral patterns, and contextual data.
The AI system aims to reach improvement goals that go beyond BMI, integrating lifestyle, emotional, and environmental factors to offer dynamic, individualized guidance in nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and stress management. It applies tailoring strategies to different patient archetypes, recognizing that individuals with obesity may have distinct biological, psychological, and social profiles that influence their response to interventions. The system adapts its recommendations, accordingly, optimizing outcomes for each user.
It also incorporates motivational interviewing techniques to foster intrinsic motivation and behavioural change, while continuously measuring patient experience and outcomes in real time for healthcare professional to apply tailored approaches for their improvement. Designed to be non-stigmatizing, accessible, and autonomous, the tool acts as a supportive companion and collects structured data that can be shared with healthcare professionals to enhance follow-up, process improvement and shared decision-making.
