Alexandra Correia

She has a degree in Sociology (Universidade Nova de Lisboa, 1990), a postgraduate degree in Public Administration and Regional Development from the perspective of the European Communities (Universidade de Évora, 1994), a Master's degree in Educational Sciences (Universidade de Lisboa, 2009), Advanced Training in Educational Sciences (Universidade de Lisboa, 2010) and a course in EU Maritime Economy and Blue Growth | Jean Monet Chair - Oceanid (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). She is currently a PhD candidate in Geography and Territorial Planning at the New University of Lisbon, and is associated with the CICS Nova Research Centre (Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences).

Areas of specialization: Regional and Local Development, European Affairs, Blue Economy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

She coordinated the Development and Cooperation Department at the Alentejo Regional Development Agency, where she was responsible for managing projects and preparing applications for various national and European programes (Interreg Europe, Interreg MED, Interreg Atlantic Area, Interreg SUDOE, Interreg POCTEP; COSME, ERASMUS, Regional and National Programes, etc.). She also coordinated the Europe Direct Alentejo Central and Litoral Centre between 2015 and 2024.

She has over 30 years' experience in coordinating and managing projects at local and regional level. She is the co-author of the books: ‘Tecido empresarial e competências empreendedoras numa perspectiva regional - Um estudo aplicado à região do Alentejo in “Inovação, Emprego e Políticas Públicas” (Innovation, Employment and Public Policies) (Edições Sílabo, 2018); “Um olhar sobre o papel do sociólogo no desenvolvimento local e integrado in ”Quem são e o que fazem os sociólogos em Portugal?’ (Who are sociologists and what do they do in Portugal?) (Mundos Sociais, 2018); Educação e Formação de Adultos e Desenvolvimento Local in ‘Qualificação de Adultos: Realidades e Desafios no Sul de Portugal’ (Edições Pedago, 2011).
