The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) counts over 100,000 students and is the largest university in Greece and in the Balkans. The University was established in 1925 and provides students with a comprehensive range of education and training opportunities. The Transport Systems Research Group of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (TSRG/AUTh) functions within the Transport Engineering Laboratory, of the Division of Transport and Project Management, of the School of Civil Engineering, of the Faculty of Engineering, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The scientific activities of the Group fall under the areas of operation, planning, organization, and management, as well as the impact of Transportation Systems on people, the environment, and sustainable development. TSRG carries out both funded (from public and private organizations) and non-funded research. TSRG/AUTh combines field knowledge with established collaborations in every project that it undertakes, utilizes existing expertise within AUTh, and cooperates with external consultants and researchers. The existing facilities are continuously upgraded in order to keep up with the demands of research and development.

About me

Dimitrios Nalmpantis was born in Aalen, West Germany, in 1976. He holds a PhD in Transportation (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2009), an MSc in Information Systems (Hellenic Open University, 2021), an MBA in Operations Research (University of Macedonia, 2017), an MA in Humanities (Hellenic Open University, 2012), and an MEng in Civil Engineering (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2000). He is a Lab. Teaching Faculty member at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Adj. Teaching Faculty member at the Hellenic Open University. He also used to be an Adj. Teaching Faculty member at the University of Thessaly. He has participated in more than 30 national and European research projects and authored/co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals, books, and conferences. His research interests are focused on transportation systems, public transport, active mobility, sustainable mobility, road safety, traffic psychology, accessibility for people with disability, environmental port management, etc.
