Ahmet Aksöz is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, with a strong focus on electrical machines, power electronics, control systems, smart grids, and renewable energy. Born in Sürmene, Turkey, Dr. Aksöz has built an impressive career through his extensive education, research, and professional experience.
Dr. Aksöz completed his B.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering and a double major in Mechanical Engineering at Erciyes University, Turkey, graduating with first-class honors. He pursued his integrated Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Gazi University, where he specialized in the design and control of grid-connected three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor drivers, under the supervision of Prof. Ali Saygin. His academic journey also included research stints at Oviedo University, Aalborg University, and a postdoctoral position at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) under the guidance of Prof. Omar Hegazy.
Throughout his career, Dr. Aksöz has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professorships at Sivas Cumhuriyet University and Kayseri University. His research contributions span a wide range of topics, including active damping control, motor drivers, power stability, harmonic suppression, modular multilevel converters, and electric vehicle power systems. He has also been involved in numerous EU-funded projects, such as Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, focusing on renewable energy, electric vehicles, and smart grid technologies.
Dr. Aksöz has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work, including the Best Reviewer Award from the Journal of Electrical Engineering and Technology, the YÖK Academic Encouragement Award multiple times, and the Second Best Paper Award at the 12th International Conference on Smart Grid. He is an IEEE Senior Member and holds leadership roles in IEEE PELS (Power Electronics Society) and IEEE PES (Power & Energy Society).
In addition to his research, Dr. Aksöz is an active educator, teaching courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Power Transmission and Distribution, Renewable Energy Plants, Electric Drives, and Power Electronics. He has also supervised several master's and Ph.D. theses, contributing to the development of future engineers and researchers.
Dr. Aksöz is proficient in multiple programming languages and engineering software, including MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, and Ansys. He has published extensively in high-impact journals and conferences, with a strong focus on advancing the fields of renewable energy, electric vehicles, and smart grid technologies.
Currently, Dr. Aksöz continues to contribute to the academic and research community through his work at Kayseri University, where he is involved in cutting-edge research projects aimed at improving energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, and the development of advanced electric vehicle technologies. His dedication to innovation and sustainability in energy systems makes him a leading figure in his field.
