About

CeNTI (Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials) is a portuguese multidisciplinary research center currently engaged in addressing the entire lithium-ion battery value chain, from lithium extraction, cathode synthesis, cell production and recycling (mechanical and chemical).

Our portfolio includes the following key activities:

  • Optimization of mechanical recycling processes to maximize active material recovery and minimize contaminants in the black mass

  • Chemical and physical characterization of materials (SEM, ICP, XRF, LIBS, GC, thermal analysis, etc.)

  • Development of new characterization methodologies

  • Separation processes for cathode and graphite materials

  • Development and optimization of hydrometallurgical processes tailored to different chemistries (e.g., NMC, LFP)

  • Production of pouch cells

In terms of equipment, we have:

·       Pilot Scale Mechanical Recycling Line

·       Pilot Scale Hydrometallurgical Plant

·       Equipment for battery diagnosis and discharging

·       Equipment for cell production

If our expertise resonates with your needs or interests, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re truly excited about the opportunity to collaborate and would be honored to join a consortium for your project.
