Human movement detailed analysis throught GPS data

Arnaud Trousset

About

At CitiProfile, we produce automated diagnostics of land use by processing billions of digital signals emitted by mobile applications, enriched with other geospatial datasets (roads, buildings, points of interest, administrative zones, biodiversity observations, and natural areas). This allows us to generate highly precise insights into large-scale human behavior.

We leverage a large sample size. For example, in France, our dataset represents over 20 million individuals (IDs), covering nearly 35% of the population.
Our data complements traditional sources used by land and natural area managers (such as field surveys, physical sensors, satellite imagery, telecom data, GTFS & GPS vehicle data, AIS beacons). We offer high-resolution insights (+/- 10 meters) and in-depth analysis of recurring movement patterns of large populations.

Our research is based on five-dimensional models:

  • X, Y, Z, T, C (Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Time, and Meteorological Context),

  • Enhanced by space usage and consumption analyses, essentially conducting sociology through Big Data.

  • These analyses are performed using HPC (High-Performance Computing) algorithms
