Lung Cancer Screening and Follow-up

thoracic surgeon at Inselspital Bern, University Hospital of Bern, Switzerland

Bern, Switzerland

About

We are seeking consortium partners for an innovative project focused on lung cancer screening and individualized follow-up. The project aims to integrate clinical, radiological, and molecular data to enhance early detection, risk stratification, and outcome prediction in patients at risk for or diagnosed with lung cancer.

A key objective is to implement personalized follow-up strategies, ensuring that each patient receives the most appropriate and effective care pathway based on their individual risk and clinical profile. The project will also explore the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimize diagnostic accuracy, predict recurrence, and support evidence-based clinical decisions.

In addition, the initiative will evaluate the health-economic implications and scalability of lung cancer screening programs across European healthcare systems.

The Department of Thoracic Surgery at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital (Switzerland) contributes extensive clinical experience, outcome data, and active participation in multicenter and EU-funded collaborations. We are particularly interested in partners from radiology, oncology, data science, public health, and health economics to join a strong and interdisciplinary consortium.

Our goal is to establish a sustainable and data-driven framework for personalized lung cancer screening and follow-up, improving both survival rates and quality of life across Europe.
