About me

Ellie Williams gained her pHD at University College London in structural biology, before joining the Structural Genomics Consortium in Oxford as a postdoc in 2010. There she spent 11 years researching the rare disease FOP (Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva) under Prof. Alex Bullock. As part of this she spent 5 years as SGC Oxford's public engagement officer, in parallel with her research, developing and enabling the PER strategy of the unit.

As part of her research into FOP, she published data that led to the development of a phase II clinical trial (STOP FOP) which is just coming to an end.

In 2021 she took over as team leader of the protein production facility within the Centre for Medicines Discovery. The facility is focused on enabling recombinant protein production for drug discovery research. Of note was our involvement in the production of the Covid-19 spike protein in 2020-21 for Oxford based research, and our contribution to the NIH funded ASAP consortium for pandemic preparedness.

The facility is delighted to collaborate with researchers globally from both academia and industry and would be happy to discuss your research and how we can help you.
