About
Since 2022, a multidisciplinary team including architects, designers, and programmers has been making digital tools for curating and superpowering community-focused, resource-conscious, and imagination-driven design processes. Under the banner of Tandeems, we are redefining how design competitions can be—open, playful, low-threshold, and deeply rooted in local realities.
In parallel to our open design competition platform, Tandeems has developed a robust methodology and digital infrastructure for material reclaiming, rooted in real-world experimentation. Through extensive work with public institutions in Latvia—including several built pilot projects—we've designed and tested a process that enables early-stage material audits and cataloging by using custom applications.
Combined, these systems offer a powerful framework for curating complex, community-engaged architecture and design projects with a strong focus on circularity and reuse—turning buildings into material banks rather than waste streams.
