The Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) was established in 1973 and spans across cities in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, recently expanding to include faculties in Kavala, Drama, and Didymoteicho. D.U.Th. is among the largest universities in Greece in terms of active student population. It comprises 10 Schools with 28 Departments, a student population of approximately 42,000, and more than 700 research and teaching staff members. D.U.Th. strives to enhance its research profile through collaborations and projects that position it as one of the leading research institutions in Greece.
