About
The Institute for Migration Research is the only scientific research institution in Croatia, as well as in the wider environment, which, through systematic and continuous interdisciplinary monitoring of all forms of migration and population mobility, the study of national/ethnic minorities and various aspects of ethnic issues, with the special task of encouraging their comparative study, improves scientific and public understanding of their complexity and reality.
Our activities include interdisciplinary research (deductive, inductive and abductive), science communication, lectures, organization of conferences, consultations, etc. Through these activities, we contribute to the accumulation of knowledge about the socio-political conditions and consequences of migration, ethnic development, ethnic relations, various forms of identity, but also to the transfer of this knowledge - both to other scientists, students and the academic community, as well as to practical workers, participants in public debates, journalists, etc.
The Institute's mission is to encourage the comparative study of migration, minorities and ethnicity and to improve public understanding of their complexity and reality, but also to encourage the introduction of new policies and activities through research and discussion that can influence the resolution of problems related to these areas.
